The
Web Design Process.
Hollowpoint
follows a set procedure for website design that has proven
effective for the vast majority of clients, however, we
are flexible in our approach and can accomodate most businesses.
The
Quote Process
- Client
submits request for quotation, including as much detail
as possible
- Hollowpoint
examines request to determine if we can help
- We
will then look at competitor websites and the client's
site for a better understanding of their product or service
and their industry in general
- We
will contact the client for an initial discussion in order
to get a feel for what is important to the client. We
will also collect as much information as possible at this
stage
- We
will then analyse the requirements, make recommendations
and ballpark the website cost
- If
the client is happy with what we have said and done so
far, we will produce a quote and submit it for approval
- If
the quote is approved, we will create an invoice, receive
a deposit as appropriate and begin the design process
The
Design Process
- We
collect all available artwork that the client has or gives
us access to
- We
have another dicussion with the client on the design elements,
before we are ready to produce any artwork
- We
begin the design process with production of a 'mockup',
which is a graphical representation of how the website
would look. We may also 'storyboard' the site in the case
of complex builds
- We
submit the mockup for discussion with the client
- We
make changes until the client is happy, then ask the client
to 'sign off' on the design. Once the client has signed
off, we reserve the right to charge the client for any
modifications to the overall design from that point onwards
- Once
a design has been signed off by the client, we build the
pages
Pages
& Content
- At
this juncture, we build the page of the site, including
navigation and various elements which are consistent throughout
the website
- We
upload this to a test site, so that the client can monitor
the progress from here on in
- We
pull content from an existing website, or competitor websites,
or from information supplied by the client, in order to
view the pages with 'dummy content'. This will allow us
to format the pages to look their best
- We
then ask the client to view the pages and provide us with
additional content or modifications to existing content
- We
make the required changes until the client is satisfied
with the content (this includes text, images, icons, banners,
and flash animations on a page)
- If
the website includes a database, we create the database
at this stage
- We
then move on to the final stages
Finalising
a Website
- The
final stages include ensuring the website has been fully
tested across multiple browsers and screen resolutions
- We
perform an initial search engine optimisation, adding
meta tags, titles, alt tags and any other element we feel
will improve search engine rankings
- We
add our Web Design & Marketing by Hollowpoint tag
to the bottom of the site
- We
upload to our test server for final alterations
- Client
approves site and pays balance of any fees
- Site
is then uploaded live onto the website and further testing
takes place
- Any
additional code (analytics, scripts, etc) is added at
this stage
- Site
is then complete
- Client
may request further alterations after this point in time

"Before
Hollowpoint took over our web site and online marketing,
we were receiving about 50 website inquiries per month...
we now get more than 2,000 targetted inquiries per month.
We would recommend Hollowpoint to everyone.... except
our competitors!"
