About
Types of Websites
There
are many different forms of websites that we develop,
depending on the client's requirements and our own
recommendations. Generally speaking, most sole traders
and small businesses require websites that are either
Brochure Style or Company Websites. This keeps the
cost down whilst still giving potential customers
a good understanding of what the business is all about.
Brochure
Style Websites.
Brochure websites are usually a representation
of your business in graphical terms, similar to
how you might present a print brochure. They usually
have minimal content, mostly focusing on a few
key features of the business or product. Brochure
style websites are usually used to sell a short-run
product, to advertise a special offer, promote
an event, or simply make customers aware that
you exist. |
Company
Websites.
This is what we would consider to be a standard
business website. It would include your company
branding (logos, artwork, etc) as well as content
on what you do, where you are located, who you
are, and how to contact you. These sites can vary
from 5 pages to more than 30 pages. Company Websites
are usually optimised for search engines, and
can contain significant amounts of information
on a business. |
Ecommerce
Websites.
Ecommerce websites are designed to provide a prospective
purchaser with the information and facilities
that will allow them to buy products or services
online without having to phone, email or visit
a business in person. Credit Card facilities are
usually added to allow the customer to make a
complete purchase via their computer, and such
transactions are secured using an SSL certificate.

Portal
or Membership Sites.
Portal and Membership sites often supply a service
(either online or offline) to members, usually
driven by a database that performs various functions
that interact with the member. These may include
providing a virtual meeting place for fans, enthusiasts
or likeminded people, an online dating service,
photo-sharing or video-sharing, loyalty programs,
or may be used for cloud computing (such as online
accounting). These sites can generate revenue
from many sources. [more

Corporate
Websites.
Similar to a Company Website, corporate sites
usually have features which offer some level of
interactivity for their clients, staff and suppliers.
This may include providing a company intranet,
wholesalers login, customer login and even integration
of a CRM or ERP. Corporate Website are usually
built for large companies. |
Content
Managed Websites.
A website employing the use of a Content Management
System is easily updated by the website owner
themselves, using a WYSIWYG editor, rather than
having a web design company make all the changes.
An owner can log in to the 'back end' of their
site, add or edit pages and content, with an editor
that is similar to a standard word processor.
These sites are ideal for content that changes
on a daily or weekly basis. [more
